Kappa alpha psi fraternity, incorporated

Our History

Kappa Alpha Psi was founded on the campus of Indiana University, Bloomington Indiana on January 5, 1911, by ten God-fearing men: Elder Watson Diggs, Ezra Dee Alexander, Byron K. Armstrong, Henry T. Asher, Marcus P. Blakemore, Paul W. Caine, George W. Edmonds, Guy L. Grant, Edward G. Irvin and John Milton Lee.

Chartered and incorporated originally under the laws of the State of Indiana as Kappa Alpha Nu on May 15, 1911, the name was changed to Kappa Alpha Psi on April 15, 1915.

The Constitution of Kappa Alpha Psi is predicated upon, and dedicated to, the principles of “Achievement”.

The Objectives of Kappa Alpha Psi are:

• TO UNITE college men of culture, patriotism, and honor, in a bond of fraternity

• TO ENCOURAGE honorable ACHIEVEMENT in every field of human endeavor

• TO PROMOTE the spiritual, social, intellectual, and moral welfare of its members

• TO ASSIST in the aims of colleges and universities

• TO INSPIRE service in the public interest
